mxmtoon  is back with a new track from her highly anticipated debut album,  the masquerade.  “dream of you”  starts off with a folk-inspired sound, then leans into mxmtoon’s signature wistful pop storytelling.

mxmtoon is 19-year-old Maia who tells us, ” when i was 10, i was told that if someone appeared in your dream you missed them and they missed you. “dream of you” was brought out of that idea, and the lessons i’ve learned as i’ve gotten a bit older. people will come and go in our lives, and being okay with that reality has taken me a bit. admittedly, i’m still working on it! even when someone waltzes in and feels like they will be there forever, they still might go, but that’s okay. to appreciate the time you have with someone and the lessons you learned along the way, is the best thing you can do. so, this song is for those who have lost, loved, and learned from another. which should be all of us!”

Over the course of her career so far mxmtoon has gathered a strong online following, amassing over  318K Instagram followers, 400K followers on YouTube,  930K followers on TikTok  and  over 1M streams a day on DSPs  while also completely selling out her US March 2019 tour. She will be heading out on a nearly completely sold out North American tour

“dream of you”  follows previously released tracks ” prom dress,”   “high & dry,” “seasonal depression,”  and  “blame game.”  Her songwriting is front and center of her craft where we see her tackle complex issue with charm and honesty. Maia refers to her songwriting as “rhyming diary entries,” and it’s this personal insight into her life and experiences that has built a remarkable bond between her and her fans.

mxmtoon soared to new heights in 2018, bringing her folk-enriched style to life in the plum blossom EP. This year she returned with the achingly gorgeous new singles  “prom dress“ and ” high & dry”  which encapsulated her knack for merging unbridled honesty with a warm and heartfelt sound. “prom dress” has now reached over 15 million streams on spotify alone and she has over 250 million cumulative steams to date.
