She’s back with her jazzy big-band sound. The soulful Jaclyn Manfredi premieres her latest single “Look Away” on Elicit Magazine.

The inspiration behind the single came to Jaclyn when she was out and about driving and saw that there was a car crash. Rather than look away, Jaclyn fell into the curiosity trap that many of us are all too familiar with. “I wanted to keep looking to see all the details and see what would happen next,” she says.

It’s like when a relationship ends and either party can’t help but to think back and wonder —

What if we did things differently?

Jaclyn comments, “We hope that maybe if we hold on a little bit, it could work, or as much as we try to forget, we can’t fully forget everything. The memories are always going to be in the back of your mind.”

After her producer sent her the track, Jaclyn immediately started singing the hook. “The rest of the lyrics flowed out after I wrote the chorus. From there, it all came naturally, the lyrics, melody, and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.”

When you listen to the song, you’ll recognize the classic big-band feel that Jaclyn carries throughout her all of her music; It’s a one-woman show, but it’s like all of New Orleans showed up and started playing. The sound is new to this age of music, but classic to those born in the 1940s when Jazz was at its peak.

The lyrics are catchy and the theme of the song, well, as we mentioned before, it’s relatable; isn’t it crazy when we pay more attention to the things that don’t deserve our attention at all? It happens more often than not.

“I think with this song, or any song that I write, I want the fans to be able to connect. I want them to know that they’re not crazy and that there’s someone else out there going through the same thing they are,” says Jaclyn. “That’s the most important thing for me when writing. I want the fans to be able to hear the lyrics and relate to them in their own ways.”

If you’re looking for an upbeat and relatable song that tugs on your heartstrings while fumbling with the morality of curiosity, this song is for you! Listen to the exclusive premiere of Jaclyn Manfredi’s “Look Away” below.
