From the ashes of “Gold” comes not one, but two other-worldly remixes to IYVES’ hit single released earlier this year. “Gold” sees very different re-creations from producer Charles Fauna and London-based duo NIMMO. While still keeping its original soul-flavored inspiration, both Fauna and NIMMO turn “Gold” into their own magical creations.

Charles Fauna taps into his tactful electronic production talents to transform “Gold” into a euphoric symphony of sounds. Since his teen years, Fauna has been writing and recording albums by himself in his home studios. On remixing “Gold,” Fauna explains “there was so much energy in the performance of the original – writing something new to her [IYVES’] words came effortlessly. It was a really natural and bountiful process.” Fauna’s sound is a mixture of colorful alt-pop while simultaneously diving into dark and moving themes.

On the other end of the spectrum, NIMMO transform “Gold” into an upbeat dance-floor groove. NIMMO are two best friends from London, a queer pop duo, event curators and a fully independent female partnership. Combining punk roots with strong influence from the mid-90’s euphoria of their childhoods, NIMMO’s music reflects a nocturnal escapism.

During the creation of their reimagination to “Gold,” the duo explain that they “wanted to create something that reflects [their] music whilst also referencing the sound of what [they] party to when relaxing, as this is often the space where [they] take most inspiration. This late-night groove was a perfect match with IYVES’ beautiful soulful led vocals.”

Hannah Taxman, otherwise known as IYVES, is a soulful R&B artist based out of Brooklyn, New York. Her commanding vocals backed by alluring pop/electronic beats put IYVES in a genre all her own, one where she is constantly challenging the boundaries of traditional R&B music. In her music, you can find bits of pieces influenced by the greats including Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye. While her sound lies in the realms of Soul/R&B, she has interwoven a more modern path by incorporating pop and electronic. Her new string of releases for this year reflect her growth and confidence within herself and her sound.
