Alt-pop sensation Imogen Mahdavi unveils new track “Rock The Boat”

London-based singer-songwriter Imogen Mahdavi is poised to announce a brand new track with the arrival of ‘Rock The Boat’ this October. A pop artist like no other, Imogen masterfully weaves soulful 60s inspired pop with modern concepts, penning songs that are equal parts confessional, cinematic and pensive.

    LISTEN TO “ROCK THE BOAT”

‘Rock The Boat’ sees her ghostly vocals laid over a beautiful piano piece as the song fades into a masterful trap beat. She says: “After focusing so much on romantic love, this was the first song I wrote about a family member. We’ve finally reconciled after many years of resentment towards each other. It’s about keeping this good path that we’ve worked so hard to get on and not fall back into bad habits in the way we used to treat one another. They’ve struggled with mental health problems and coming out of a phase in my life with bouts of anxiety I realised life is too short to hold grudges. We have a new understanding of each other, and I hope this new phase in our relationship lasts a lifetime”.

Imogen released her debut single ‘Doormat Darling’ back in July 2019, which was the perfect introduction to her refined soundscape. Led by her timeless, honeyed vocal, Imogen harmoniously ensnares your consciousness, conjuring the same sensation as the first time you heard Amy Winehouse. Delivered with the same tenacity as R&B household names through the decades and syphoned through a contemporary production that runs the length between heady trip-hop laced electronica and dreamy 60s pop, ‘Doormat Darling’ is a truly standout debut from a gifted artist currently sitting on 8K+ combined streams.

Lauded by tastemaker press, with Clash Magazine describing her music as “a Sumptuous Piece of Confessional Pop” and i-D Magazine labelling her vocals as the “most unique voice we’ve heard in ages”, Imogen Mahdavi’s trajectory continues to rise. One to watch.
