AUGUST 28, 2018 – HOUSTON, TX – Handsomebeast are premiering their new single/video “Playboi” exclusively with Substream Magazine. Stream HERE. “’Playboi’ is piano driven yet features a sultry baseline, Joe Walsh-esque guitar licks, and even warped backing vocals”, Substream describes. The track is the first from a series of singles to be released by Handsomebeast this fall. In support, the band will embark on a string of tour dates next month, hitting cities like Memphis, New York City, Philadelphia and more. Handsomebeast are a five piece band comprised of Nick Serena, Jacob Rodriguez, Peewee Ruiz, Carlos Ortiz and Tony Ortiz. Since forming, they have quickly commanded the attention of the Houston music scene, thanks to their volcanic live performances and unique sound described by Houston Free Press as “halfway between good times and sexy late night jams”.

The band aims to make artistically and musically ambitious pop tunes with a distinct rock and roll flair, in the tradition of artists like St. Vincent and David Bowie. This is reflected in all three of their previous albums, including the debut LP, Estilo Gacho, released in January 2014, the Sexy Face Reaction Time EP, released in December 2015 and their sophomore LP The Badass Future, released in December 2016 to acclaim from Houston Press, who noted, “Sexy work, from a band that deserves to be much in demand after this album.”
