Christmas is coming early for Esmé’s fans with the special single “Come with Me,” out today.

The sultry track is a very symbolic release for the Sydney-based singer/songwriter: a previous version already saw the light of the day exactly two years ago, winning the attention of Triple J radio, Sony 301 and MTV in her home country and giving her the opportunity to open for Amy Shark at Australia’s first ever MTV Unplugged 2018. While the original belonged to the jazzy realm, this new electro soul rendition produced by the German producer Amillian echoes Esmé’s desire to create an intimacy with her listeners, whether they are early supporters or have just started riding her wave. “Come With Me was actually my very first single. I wrote and recorded it all in one day with my guitarist Sean Harlor and never planned on releasing it until we got the master back from Nick Herrera (Hiatus Kaiyote)”, Esmé explains.

Characterized by her light, floating lyrics and evoking sounds, Come with Me is about being intrigued and attracted to someone, and asking them to follow you in a “come-hither” kind of way. That muted sensuality has been explored through new hues, tones and textures following a New York trip in fall 2018, with the help of top producers Royce Wood Junior (NAO, Jamie Woon), Twilite Tone (Kanye West, Gorillaz) and Chris Penning.

“After Brooklyn, it made sense to bring Come with Me into the family of new intimate electro sounds and heavier beats, she continues. Using the same vocal track, I worked with Amillian who got the vibe of it straight away, encasing the vocal track with the beautiful synth strings, swirling electric sounds, those heavy Billie Eilish type of beats and echoing vocals. Hearing it felt like swimming in a pastel coloured dream.” And you’re kindly invited to dive into it too while Esmé keeps on building her story both sonically & visually for her debut EP to come in 2020.
