(Nashville) – Brad Tursi, the acclaimed songwriter and guitarist, unveils the black-and-white video for his latest track, “Church Bells and Train Whistles,” from his upcoming debut album Parallel Love. The ten-track project delves into themes of restlessness, wandering, and romanticism, exploring how life’s journey often circles back to familiar places.

“Church Bells and Train Whistles,” the album’s first focus track, captures Tursi’s longing for freedom and connection. The song, with its ambling shuffle and wistful lyrics, reflects Tursi’s introspective take on his journey. “I am at my core pretty simple, but very much wanting to see the world,” Tursi says. “I wrote the song trying to explain myself to myself and the people who love me. It’s a lot. It’s pretty basic. Because it all adds up.”

The video, shot in grainy black-and-white, juxtaposes the blur of travel with moments of isolation, offering a visual metaphor for the roots that keep Tursi grounded. He explains, “I wanted the video to be evocative, something that gave people room to see their own story. Even with the sound down, I wanted it to pull people in.” The imagery reflects the tension between speed and space, as well as the balance between exploration and homecoming.

As Tursi prepares for a show at Carol’s Pub in Chicago on Thursday, October 17th, and a performance on NPR’s Mountain Stage alongside artists like Dave Alvin, Mindy Smith, and Low Cut Connie, his journey is just beginning. The release of Parallel Love marks a new chapter in his career, blending his love of roots music with personal storytelling.

    Lyrics Excerpt:
“A winding road can wind me up
But this gravel drive’s where I wind up
It winds me down like a pocket watch
When I hold you, girl, time just stops
Somewhere out in the middle of small town settlin’ down…”
