Breakthrough pop duo BLVCKBOW has just released their latest single, “Second Nature.” The duo, composed of two powerhouse women Brittni Paiva and Jasmine Crowe, went back to their native Hawaiian roots for this track.

This love song is an uplifting island groove, a stark contrast from their debut electro-alt pop single, “Memorize U.” “Second Nature ” is now available for streaming on digital music platforms worldwide.

BLVCKBOW describes the inspiration behind “Second Nature” as “the freeing feeling of being with someone that changes how you feel about yourself, caught off guard when you’re around them in the most positive and comfortable way.” The pair explores a different sound by bending the barriers of the confinements of a set genre.

The soothing elements of the track include smooth vocals from Jasmine Crowe and sunny melodious grooves from Brittni Paiva on ukulele and electric guitar. This combination creates a unique and personalized sound that adds components of reggae and island inspiration.

“‘Second Nature’ was influenced by our island roots since we are both from Hawaii and we’re brought up and raised around that kind of music and sound,” says the duo. “We’d honestly never written anything with an island reggae vibe before, so we really wanted to explore it genre-wise as it’s something that’s always been inside both of us.”

The positive vibes the song emulates were very intentional, as the duo credits reggae music with emitting the “spiritual feeling of universal love,” which was the ultimate goal of “Second Nature.” The track was produced by Brittni Paiva, Jasmine Crowe, and Imua Garza, who also played the keys, strings, and horns on the track. Other notable musicians include Blake Pedrero on bass guitar, Calvin Canha on the drums, and Alexis Tolentino on the steel guitar.

From their mutual hometown of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii, Crowe and Paiva followed solo paths. The two artists finally joined forces to collaborate on Crowe’s Pride Month celebration song called “Love is Love” last year. During this collaboration, they began writing songs together and realized that the creative chemistry between them was undeniable.

After this definitive session, Paiva made the move to Los Angeles to join Crowe and continue with the formation and progression of BLVCKBOW. Since that connection was established, BLVCKBOW has been writing and recording their debut album and playing shows at iconic venues such as Whisky A Go Go and The Mint.

“Second Nature” is an exciting and refreshing perspective on the dreaminess of being around someone that feels like home. Listen to “Second Nature” here.
