    LISTEN TO START IT UP

Brooklyn-born singer-songwriter Alex Mali, self proclaimed “Green Queen,” has been preparing for this moment for some time now and today, she has released her debut EP Sweet & Sour. The proud half Jamaican, half Trinidadian born newcomer recently premiered her latest single Start It Up on Complex who says, “Her latest single is “Start It Up,” an impatient piece of chart-ready R&B.”  She kicked off the campaign with an in-depth interview and playback on Beats1 with Nadeska.

Over the past couple of years Alex has been earning a strong following by independently releasing single after single with collaborations ranging from fellow Brooklynite Thutmose to Grammy award winning producer, Melo-X.  Her music garnered an introduction by the likes of Ebro Darden at Apple when her, debut Hoity Toity premiered on Beats1 and The Fader.

Her follow up releases would go on to amass millions of collective streams on Spotify and Apple Music earning placements on H&M and Topshop playlists, Spotify’s New Music Friday, Alternative R&B, Fresh Finds and more. Even her latest release Faded was reviewed and featured on Pitchfork.

Cementing herself as one to watch, Alex appeared at the VFiles #NYFW SS19 Runway Show for an unforgettable vocal performance alongside Lil’ Kim at the Barclays Center and landed several sync placements including the star-studded Netflix film Afterparty and Sprite’s #GetVocal Worldwide Commercial which premiered during the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Alex Mali is only getting started and wants Sweet & Sour to take you on a journey.  Each ballad, written by Alex, is influenced by an electric assortment of genres with undeniable demonstration of strength in melodic and lyrical ability. Listen to Sweet & Sour today.  The download includes a personal recipe booklet containing some of her favorite Caribbean dishes and drinks made by her Trinidadian father. From the cover art designed by Alex to the sultry and powerful vocals performed on each track, Alex Mali will grab and hold the attention of her fans and entice news ones in a way that transcends barriers of age and culture. Sweet & Sour has something for everyone and proves why Alex Mali is next.
