MARLEE XX Obliterates The Pop Formula Double-Single Release, “Frequency” and “Only One”

MARLEE XX, our multi-hyphenate music artist and powerhouse entertainer, hailing from Washington, DC, is a “one-woman band” that has honed a distinctive, musically versatile style of genre fluidity.

MARLEE XX is dropping her double release of “Frequency” and “Only One,” creating crossover-ready pop songs that obliterate the traditional pop formula and completely redefine what it means to be a woman in music.

“Frequency” harbors a dark, bold, and moody beat juxtaposed by uplifting lyrics that, quite literally, raise the vibration of anyone listening, as well as, raise the stakes. Demanding a call to action and pleading with the higher self to rise to the occasion, the track reverberates …

“..I said God told me I have one job and that’s to raise the entire frequency of the universe.”

Like a wave of sunshine after a storm or cool water to cleanse the soul, “Only One,” trickles in embracing another vibration. With juicy bass, delicate synths, and the need for just one true love, this reggae-inspired infusion bounces along a fine line of urban and progressive pop music.

Listen to “Frequency” and “Only One”

MARLEE XX (originally Marlee In the Mixx) held a successful residency for two years at Indulj On U Street in D.C, and performed in venues across the US including Afropunk’s Battle of the Bands, SOB’s in New York City, and Hollywood’s legendary Whisky a Go-Go. The band also toured internationally as co-headliners at the Essence of Seoul festival in Seoul, South Korea.

In 2017, MARLEE XX launched her solo career with the release of her track “SHIFT,” landed licensing deals with TVOne, The Hype (HBO), and The Come Up (Hulu/Freeform,) and became a representative at “Girls Make Beats,” an organization empowering the next generation of female music producers, DJs, and audio engineers.

She has been featured in World Wide Waves, Black Music Month, The Washington Post, and Voyage LA and is renowned as a fearless fashionista, unapologetic in her self-expression with a bold personal style. A convergence of punk, street, and fantasy, MARLEE XX has worked with iconic brands like Versace.
