Austin, TX — After being featured on their New Year’s Ditty Dozen playlist with the single ‘Go This Alone’, from her upcoming LP, Katrina Cain has partnered with DittyTV’s Hand-Crafted Music to debut a visual component to her single ‘Things I’’ll Never Say.’

Cain’s songwriting evokes a rooted independence, and in the accompanying visuals, tone and lyrics, Cain tells the story of a young girl who dreams of packing a guitar, her voice, and some red cowboy boots, and trying her lot on Music Row.

“I wrote ’Things I’ll Never Say’ about my parents and my relationship with them…It’s a story of wanting to be something bigger than your hometown, of running away from perceived ‘family troubles,’ only to realize that your family is still supporting and loving you from afar and will never give up on you.

The producer of the song, Andrew McMillan, is also Cain’s spouse. “This whole song and video has been a DIY, collaborative project, and I’m so grateful to everyone who has helped along the way.” The video will also be added to DittyTV’s The Curve, beginning regular rotation as its season premieres on January 30th.

‘Things I’ll Never Say’ is the latest in a series of singles released by Cain as The Jessamynn Tapes, a songwriting project exploring identity and storytelling with simplicity, authenticity, and rhyme. Steeped in Americana, Katrina Cain aims to allow her true writing voice to grow and bloom, and answer the question: what defines belonging? The Jessamynn Tapes, Vol. 1 will be released in full in late 2022.

A veteran of the pop scene, Katrina Cain left Los Angeles behind and returned, again, to Texas. Originally from coastal Connecticut, Cain’s own journey has unfolded on both coasts and in the American southwest, the songwriter was born in Dallas, raised in a small New England town, and returned to Texas for studies.

Years spent studying music and exploring the southwest from a car window on tours led her to Los Angeles, California just before the fated COVID-19 pandemic closed the industry in 2020. Now in Austin, the vocalist, songwriter, pianist and guitar player delivers with a voice that combines a very controlled sweetness with the raw, gritty folk in her voice need to tell the stories she’s grown up with her entire life.

Cain has received notable press in Pop Sugar, Huffington Post, Paste Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, VoyageLA, and radio stations across the country.

This is a song for dreamers, and those who want to be inspired to follow those dreams. Download or stream ‘Things I’ll Never Say’ on digital music platforms worldwide and watch the world premiere of its video on DIttyTV.com.

The video, directed and shot by Travis Beverly, is exclusive to DittyTV and can be viewed here.
