Today, the self-taught singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist known as BAD CHILD shares his debut EP Sign Up through 21 Entertainment and Capitol Records in the U.S. Sign Up is a collection of music to introduce the listener to the world of BAD CHILD and sets the stage for the full LP which will be released in 2020. The EP includes four previously released tracks, including the thunderous radio single “Breathing Fire,” as well as two brand new songs with voiceover clips that walk the listener through the narrative.

Sign Up was mixed by Spike Stent (Frank Ocean, Muse, Beyonce, Coldplay) and was created as a project that combines influences and styles to reflect and comment on not just his own life, but also the experiences of his generation. BAD CHILD explains, “Sign Up centralizes around the modern human relationship. I really just needed to dissect myself and try and understand the context of my life. I was really inspired after using and seeing people use Tinder and how it affected them. The fact that you can look at an image of a human being and come up with a summation of their entire existence into a yes or no. I find that puzzling and interesting, how people can use each other like free trials. I was so interested in building a sound that was true to my soul. I’m very proud and excited for people to get a chance to listen and hopefully it leaves them with more questions than answers.”

Sign Up arrives on the heels of an impressive summer music festival run playing some of the world’s most prestigious line ups including Great Escape, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza and Osheaga. He is gearing up to head back to the U.K. for Reading and Leeds Festivals plus and a trip to Germany for Reeperbahn to finish up the circuit. BAD CHILD returns home to join fellow Canadian, Grandson, for some shows in the west coast plus some headlining dates and a set at Sonic Field Day in Edmonton. See below for full list of upcoming shows and stay tuned for so much more from BAD CHILD.

BAD CHILD is an artist looking to come to terms with his childhood his upbringing. After losing his mother at a young age and dealing with heartbreak, he sought refuge from the world in music. Since then he’s been breaking new ground with his genre bending and distinguished sound palette. He’s quickly becoming one of Canada’s most exciting exports; profiled in Wonderland Magazine,Complex,HillyDilly,Sidewalk Hustle,Atwood Magazine and the Toronto Star. BAD CHILD’s current radio single “Breathing Fire” is Top five at Alternative radio in Canada and he has been nominated for 2019 SOCAN Songwriting Prize finalist alongside Dilly Dally, grandson and Kaytranda.
