Com Truise Remixes “Waterfall” from Indie-Electronic Band Gold Fields

Com Truise has announced a remix for Australian indie-electronic band Gold Fields’ “Waterfall.” Set to drop on July 12 via Haven Sounds, the original track is lifted from Gold Fields’ recent album Dalawa.

Com Truise needs no introduction, with a discography spanning over nearly a decade and remixes for the likes of Daft Punk, El Ten Eleven, Charli XCX, Neon Indian,  Digitalism, Deftones, and Deadmau5.

Releasing on Ghostly International alongside label mates Matthew Dear, Dabrye, Tycho, Gold Panda, and Shigeto, Com Truise has seen support from a host of tastemaker publications including Pitchfork, Resident Advisor, BBC Music, Exclaim!, The 405, Dazed, Magnetic Mag, Consequence of Sound, Earmilk, and Drowned in Sound. Com Truise has to date racked up over 23 Million Youtube plays, almost 50 million Spotify streams.

He has featured on Max Cooper’s 2018 Balance 030 album alongside Nils Frahm and Patrice Bäumel, as well as Daft Punk’s Tron: Legacy Reconfigured film score remix and has featured on the soundtrack of Netflix’s Happy!

Com Truise’s rework of “Waterfall” puts his own idiosyncratic synth-soaked spin on the track. The track’s nostalgic allure treads the line between artful and emotive, with just enough shared vocabulary between the original and the remix.

Reminiscent of a fusion between the retro-inspired sounds of Gunship, or Kavinsky with the soundscapes of Boards Of Canada, “Waterfall (Com Truise Remix)” fuses studio wizardry with retrospection, promoting the brooding and visceral Com Truise electro sound so many have championed.

Dalawa was released via Haven Sounds –  produced by Malcolm Besley (Northeast Party House, City Calm Down) and mixed by Tony Espie (The Avalanches, Cut Copy, Architecture in Helsinki.) Gold Fields have a string of successes in their wake, from premiering ‘Dark Again’ on esteemed publication Rolling Stone, to racking up over 14 million streams between Spotify and YouTube alone.

They have seen substantial support from MTV, Consequence Of Sound, EARMILK, Triple J, Alternative Press, Baeble Music, and PopMatters, and delivered a sterling remix of Chela’s ‘Romanticise’ on Kitsune. Gold Fields have featured on Beats By Dre’s Beats Of The Week playlist, as well as the Jimmy Kimmel Live! Show.

Their debut LP Black Sun scooped Album Of The Year in 2013, the lead single of which (‘Treehouse’) is still the most spun song on Triple J Unearthed.

The Melbourne-based indie quintet has seen the stages of SXSW, Coachella, BIGSOUND, Culture Collide Fest, LAUNCH, Parklife Fest, Valley Fiesta and more, performing alongside artists Miami Horror, Empire of the Sun, St. Lucia, Capital Cities and Diamond Rings, to name a few.
