James is part of the recording collective ‘A Dark Horse’. Along with the help of the other members of this collective, Niall Woods (drums) and Hugh Rodgers (piano, string arrangements), he is releasing his debut solo single, ‘The Weight’.

Set in the midst of storm Ophelia which struck Ireland in 2017, ‘The Weight’ reflects on a series of events that happened during the events of the storm. Sometimes the weight of love can envelop and pull you down, sometimes there is no choice but to step into the storm and drown.

‘The Weight’ is being released on James’s own label Rebel Beat Records. It was recorded, mixed & mastered at Porchlight Studios by Niall Woods, and produced by James and Niall with additional production by Hugh Rodgers.

James is also a working actor based in Dublin & London, and recently, he appeared in Mark O’Rowe’s ‘The Delinquent Season’, sharing a scene with actor Cillian Murphy.

Hugh Rodgers is an award-winning filmmaker and composer. He has written scores for internationally award-winning films and documentaries including ‘One Million Dubliners’, ‘Strange Occurrences In A Small Irish Village’, ‘Sandboy’, and ‘Hold on Tight’.

Niall Woods (owner of Porchlight Studios) is a producer, sound engineer and drummer. He is currently mixing live sound in Dublin’s National Concert Hall. He also tours with Landmark’s “Once the Musical” as an instrument technician and with Landmark’s “Postcards from the ledge Ross O’Carroll-Kelly” as a live mix engineer.
