Sunset Sons Release New Single ‘Love Lights’ From Forthcoming EP

Sunset Sons are today sharing ‘Love Lights’, the latest single to emerge from their forthcoming EP ‘The River’, which is produced by MPG UK Producer of the Year Catherine Marks (The Big Moon, Foals) and  due out on July 27 2018 via LAB Records (home to Now, Now and Hockey Dad). The gutsy new track follows headline shows this week from Sunset Sons in Manchester and London, both of which sold out in under 24 hours.

Speaking about the new track, drummer Jed Laidlaw says; “‘Love Lights’, it’s a song about relationships. Not necessarily boy-girl, but just about honesty and how people can change their minds like the weather. It’s just about keeping moving forward, which is the general theme around ‘The River’ EP”.

Whilst demand around the release of their 2016 UK Top 30 debut album ‘Very Rarely Say Die’ (produced by Jacquire King and James Lewis) saw Sunset Sons headline both London’s Koko and Shepherd’s Bush Empire venues as part of sold-out UK tours – alongside radio airplay from Radio 1 and Radio X – they maintain the air of a band still slightly taken aback by their own popularity.

Sunset Sons came into being entirely by chance, in a bar on the beach of sleepy French surfing hotspot Hossegor. Laidlaw encountered frontman Williams hammering out cover versions on a piano in-between pot-washing stints at the bar, which happened to be owned by a cousin of Australian bassist Pete Harper.

The band’s debut EP, ‘Le Surfing’ – named in honour of the bar – was later recorded in just 3 days in breaks between surfing stints (the band, even now, still live & surf together in Hossegor), later going top 10 on the iTunes chart without any promotional push behind it.
