Introducing “I Got What I Got,” an upbeat pop rock gem by the talented George Collins. This infectious track is infused with a bluesy swagger reminiscent of legendary artists like Eric Clapton and Steely Dan.

The song was born out of a night of lively reminiscing and celebration with an old friend, where they toasted to their past adventures in Prague during the wild days of the early 1990s and expressed gratitude for the wonderful wives they ended up with. The poignant exchange of “It’s a good thing we ended up with what we got!” and “And not what we deserved!” set the tone for this heartfelt anthem.

The song is a tribute to the redemptive power of love and gratitude for the blessings one receives after a tumultuous period.

Collins explains: “’I Got What I Got’ is a song of gratitude for returning to life after a long time in the emotionally-barren wilderness, of finding redemption through the love of a perceptive and patient woman.”

This captivating single comes from George Collins’ upcoming sophomore EP, aptly titled ‘Songs for Grown-Ups.’ Collins’ songcraft is characterized by thought-provoking lyrics, vulnerability, and insightful narratives, drawing from his background as a screenwriter and novelist. His songs resonate deeply, offering a unique blend of introspection, hard-earned wisdom, and catchy pop hooks.

Music has been an integral part of Collins’ life from a young age. He received his first guitar at the tender age of four and immediately began writing songs. His musical journey continued throughout his education, with a focus on both guitar and piano. However, Collins made a decision in his late 20s to pursue alternative career paths, as he witnessed older musicians grappling with unhappiness and destructive habits resulting from a lack of success.

When Collins became a parent in 2012, it prompted him to reevaluate his priorities and make the courageous choice to leave behind a lucrative 20-year career as an investment consultant and financial executive. With a renewed dedication to his creative pursuits and a commitment to nurturing his family, he embarked on a journey that would allow him to fully embrace his passion for music.
