Following the release of their debut single Fault Line, the Loom:ngs duo are back with a seductive rendition of Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart” available on all streaming portals today, Friday, July 13th.

Premiered earlier this week by Atwood Magazine, get lost in the “Love Will Tear Us Apart” which showcases the soulful vocals of Zola Johnson and multilayered electronic synths ofDaniel Loumpouridis. In a refreshing, chill-inducing recreation of the 2001 Joy Division release, Loom:ngs infuse a burst of modern, sultry energy for a single all their own. “Love Will Tear Us Apart” will be featured on Loom:ngs forthcoming EP releasing later this summer.

“We both grew up on 80’s pop music and just adore this song so much. Getting a chance to interpret Ian Curtis’ magnum opus for a modern day audience is everything to us. We were both shocked when we looked up his lyrics online–they’re so powerful and aching, and it felt like the entire world was missing out on that in the original version. What we wanted to do was really simple at heart: to interpret the lyrics in a modern setting, in order to convey what we felt was Curtis’ original intention.” – Loom:ngs on why those chose to release “Love Will Tear Us Apart.”

The wordplay and imagery of Zola Johnson creates a lyrical canvas for Loom:ngs

that tightropes the fine line between clarity and abstraction. By singing in both English and her native French language, Zola’s multicultural French and South African heritage further adds to the story-telling arsenal of the duo. The credit for Loom:ngs

’ expansive, multilayered electro leanings goes to Daniel Loumpouridis. As producer and co-writer, his creative sonic flares and dark lit grooves live somewhere in the middle of modern noir soundscapes and synth-pop grandeur.

Loom:ngs’ combination of powerful–and sometimes devastating–lyricism paired with pop melodies and descriptive production holds both artists up as individuals while simultaneously defining itself as its own entity.  Their debut EP, scheduled for release later in the summer of 2018, is already gaining traction as their second single, “Fault Line”, is currently in rotation worldwide at both Chipotle and H&M franchise locations.
