Vancouver-based band Olloway are quickly making waves with their unique combination of indie rock meets EDM. Today the former DJs-turned-band are back with “Moving Out,” a new single that succinctly and cleverly blends genre boundaries. The Music Mermaid premiered Olloway’s latest offering yesterday, calling it “a hot-blooded swan song to toxic love.”

On “Moving Out,” Olloway combine soaring guitars, lively percussion, and their signature modern electronic production, creating a cross-genre sonic gem. “Moving Out” is both a cathartic release of emotion and an empowering anthem to move on from something that isn’t working anymore.

With only two previous releases under their belt – “August” and “Haunted” – “Moving Out” marks the third release from Olloway. The band will be releasing one more release on July 13th that will culminate into a four-track EP. For a brand new band, Olloway have seen stunning support. All of their releases have made it on to Spotify’s highly coveted New Music Friday and their debut, “August,” even saw a run on Spotify Canada’s Viral Charts. The duo also recently unveiled a self-directed and shot music video for “Haunted,” which is available to watch here.

Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Olloway is the collaboration of two high school friends, Paul Kane and Brett Fabian. Olloway’s sound is a combination of their astute production skills and the rock music that inspired their youth, thus creating a unique genre-bending sound that is unlike anything out there.

The two originally met in 2006 in a unique high school class called “Rock and Pop” where they formed a band and performed cover songs. Post-high school, Brett moved to Vancouver to study and began DJ’ing at house parties and Paul moved to New York where he studied music production. In 2014 the two reunited to form their EDM act FKYA. The project quickly gained traction with a Hype Machine #1, a Monstercat release, and official remixes for The Chainsmokers, Krewella and The Naked and Famous. FKYA’s music quickly hit over 10 million streams on Spotify.

However, Brett and Paul felt that as they began to grow as musicians, the FKYA brand no longer fit and, thus, Olloway was born. Their debut EP ‘Haunted’ will be released this summer.
