With an earnest ability to create a delicate balance of harmony, melody, deep emotion and subtlety, LA-based Lee DeWyze’s depth as a songwriter calls to mind some of his earliest influences like Simon and Garfunkel, Yusef Islam (Cat Stevens) and Johnny Cash.

On his new Castles EP, a three-song collection out today via his own Mavelle Records (INGrooves), his gifts as a writer and singer are on full display in these compelling and exquisite songs. With mesmerizing lyrics and melodies, his quiet vocals soothe while also sharpening the listeners alertness that something unusual is happening here. Listen to Castles here. For the title track’s video, DeWyze commissioned Seen Film’s Stefano Bertelli and Riccardo Orlandi.

Written and recorded over the past two years in his home studio, there are no false notes in these songs, each one a unique light in the constellation of his imagination. From the “airy, ethereal” (Billboard) “Night and Day,” to the soft and stark “We Were Alive,” the collection is rounded out with the nostalgic, “Castles,” which offers DeWyze of the video and the song, “is to take you to childhood moments and relive them emotionally. Seen Film did such an amazing job capturing what ‘Castles’ is that it’s kind of unbelievable. From the beginning, I wanted something that would make people feel a certain way. When I saw it for the first time, I was blown away.”
