The new music video for “Time Slips Away,” the first single by self-described cinematic experimental alternative project DELANILA. The video premiered at mxdwn.com, who called it “a dramatically-choreographed clip that serves as the perfect vehicle to express the song’s theme of disconnection and isolation in our current digital age.”
DELANILA is the project of multiple award-winning “notable cross-genre composer” (The New Yorker) and performer Danielle Eva Schwob, who has garnered international acclaim for her concert music, alt-rock songs and film scores.
“At its surface, it’s about a girl lost in the corridors of her imagination, creating her own dream world to dance in,” says Schwob of the song and music video. “At its heart, it’s about feelings of unease and disconnection in the Instagram age. Everything appears sunny, when in reality many are scrolling from the dark of their bedrooms.” Directed by Charlie Mysak, the video features dancer Leal Zielińska, who was named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” in 2018.
Written by Schwob and co-produced with three-time Grammy winner David Bottrill (Tool, Muse, Peter Gabriel), the forthcoming EP Overloaded is a reflection on the innate tension between humanity, technology and the strange connected-yet-disconnected lives we all live today. Orchestrated and performed largely by Schwob on a wide range of instruments both acoustic and electric, the record also features contributions from Grammy-winning engineer Emily Lazar (Beck, Sia), programmer Pearse MacIntyre, drummer Aaron Steele(Portugal. The Man), bassists Reuben Cainer (Animus Rexx) and Jordan Brooks (Albert Hammond Jr), violinist Jennifer Choi (John Zorn), keyboardist Nick Semrad and guitaristAdam Agati (both of Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles), among others.
