Jessie Evans’s new album ‘Heartwave’ is out now. Produced by Younick (Paris) the record mixes new wave, synth pop and indi with strings, Brazilian percussion, sax, flute and acoustic guitar to create a lush mix of intergalactic vamp and cosmic pop.

Jessie Evans is a Californian born singer, saxophonist, and visual artist currently living in Brazil. Fan of the English ska bands The Selecter and The Specials, Jessie learned to play saxophone and moved to San Francisco as a teenager, forming the all girl new wave quartet Subtonix.

Shortly after, she began singing and playing bass and started the The Vanishing. In 2004 she moved to Berlin where she formed the synthetic duet Autonervous with Bettina Koester of the 80’s German all girl dark wave Malaria! During that time she also collaborated with Glass Candy, Hanin Elias (Atari Teenage Riot), and Lydia Lunch.

On her first two solo albums she played most the instruments and invited an array of friends to join. In 2009, “Is it Fire?” was recorded in Mexico and co-produced by Pepe Mogt of Nortec Collective. This album feat. Budgie (Siouxsie and the Banshees), Martin Wenk (Calexico) and longtime drummer Toby Dammit (Iggy Pop).

Her second album “Glittermine” was produced between Los Angeles, Berlin and Sao Paulo and feat. Steve Mackay (Iggy and The Stooges), Warrior Queen (Jamaica), Jimi Tenor (Finland) and King Khan (Berlin).

In 2013, Jessie moved to Sao Paulo where she met an Angolan Freestyle singer named Pitshu and two Dub producers: Victor Rice (NYC) and Kas Dub (Sao Paulo). The result was the  album “In love with Jessie & Pitshu” a dub record with influences from Ska, Kuduro, Jazz and pop.
