Kiesza Releases Comeback Single “Sweet Love”

Today, Kiesza stakes her claim on the dance pop throne she ruled on back in 2014 with comeback single “Sweet Love.” The tender new track, out on her label Zebra Spirit Tribe, is the first official release in years from the “ballerina-turned sailor-turned dance-pop upstart” (Billboard). The song, and ethereal accompanying music video, premiered on PAPER, along with the dance floor diva’s first interview in a long time.

A tender, piano-driven track that teeters between a reflection on true love and a four-on-the-floor club anthem tinged with the ghostly operatic baritone of Phillipe Sly, “Sweet Love” sees Kiesza welcoming listeners into a more intimate soundscape than she’s ever explored. The stripped-back, simple video sees the “larger-than-life “(PAPER) singer-songwriter and dancer put her classical trained dance moves to the test, using only lighting and her body to bring us into her world.

Alongside the release, Kiesza is set to embark on a small tour across the U.S. and Canada to preview her new music acoustically, a first for the pop diva, with her comeback show taking place at NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall in time for Pride.

Since going independent, the electo-pop darling has kept a relatively low profile, releasing the occasional single and making scant appearances after a car accident left her with serious injuries. Now making a complete recovery, Kiesza has made a grand return to the scene entirely on her own terms. To quote “Sweet Love,” “Now we’re breaking rules / But they ain’t breaking us.”

The Toronto-based multi-hyphenate made her breakthrough in 2014 with major-label debut Sound Of A Woman and the multi-million selling single “Hideaway.” She has headlined tours around the world, collaborated with the likes of Skrillex, Diplo and Duran Duran, and appeared in promotional campaigns for Fendi and Maison Birks.
