(October 15th, 2024) – 070 Shake is set to release her highly anticipated third album, Petrichor, on November 15th. To coincide with the announcement, she has shared the lead single, “Winter Baby / New Jersey Blues,” along with a visually stunning video directed by Bennett Watanabe and featuring Lily-Rose Depp. The song is produced by industry heavyweights Dave Hamelin (Beyoncé, King Princess), Tyler Johnson (Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus), and Patrick Krief (The Dears).

Petrichor, a term that refers to the distinct smell of rain on dry earth, symbolizes a profound feeling of renewal and introspection. Shake explained the title in a recent Cultured Magazine cover story, saying, “Petrichor is a feeling; it’s the perfect word to describe this body of music.” Drawing inspiration from cinematic classics like Wong Kar-Wai’s Fallen Angels and Gaspar Noe’s Climax, the visual for “Winter Baby” plays into a nostalgic 1950s pop sound, before transitioning to the more modern, bass-heavy “New Jersey Blues.”

In the video, Lily-Rose Depp plays a classic femme fatale, while Shake takes on the role of her elusive love interest. Together, they defy societal expectations and pursue each other with rebellious passion, setting the tone for Petrichor’s dark, romantic, and cinematic vision.

Petrichor is executive produced by Shake alongside longtime collaborator Dave Hamelin, marking her most ambitious and intimate work to date. The album blends acoustic guitars, lush piano passages, dark synths, dembow rhythms, and elements of psychedelia. Since her debut in 2016, the New Jersey native has made waves with her unique fusion of hip-hop, pop, and electronic music. Her last two albums, Modus Vivendi (2020) and You Can’t Kill Me (2022), cemented her as a rising star, while her feature on RAYE’s chart-topping hit “Escapism” in 2023 propelled her to international recognition.

Petrichor promises to take listeners on a bold, emotional journey as Shake explores the most intimate corners of her psyche, incorporating rich orchestral arrangements and live instrumentation into her signature experimental sound.
