Following on from his iconic collaboration with childhood friend and Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku on ‘New Levels’, inspired by their rise to stardom, and the summertime hit ‘Nothing At All’, Belgian artist Will Michiels aka TheColorGrey now continues the support for his new studio album with the wonderfully laid-back new offering ‘Out Of My Hands’.

Teaming up once again with Washington DC-based rapper Oddisee, the second preview of his new full-length sees the frontman merge the worlds of soul, RnB and hip-hop in a smooth and impassioned way. Recorded alongside his live band, the self-produced ‘Out Of My Hands’ manages to shine a light on his sweet and soaring vocals, while also delivering a warm and enticing production that has quickly become his signature sound.

Grey’s raps combine a tight flow with smooth, laidback vibes, soulful beats and thoughtful lyrics. His self-produced music is a very personal blend of hip hop, new soul, blue jazz, r&b and urban pop, with striking melodies that often harbour slightly dark or melancholic undertones.

Speaking about his latest cut, TheColorGrey adds, “I feel like ‘Out Of My Hands’ is one of those heartfelt songs that everybody can relate to. Every person has someone in their life they could dedicate this song to. I remember that I began writing my verse in the middle of the night thinking about someone very close to me that had recently passed away. Hence the first line – “I wish you could live forever”. The rest just came naturally while reflecting on life in general. I think it’s the quickest verse I ever wrote. The moment was that real. After recording my verse I just sat on the song for a while. Then at one point, I realised I wanted a different approach on the 2nd verse. A whole other perspective. Right away I thought I should send the song to Oddisee. His lyricism is the type that will give you goosebumps. I needed that on this record.”

‘Out Of My Hands’ is available to stream and download from 8 November via Warner Music Benelux, with his highly anticipated new album expected to drop in the spring of 2020.
