SACRE share another chapter of their ‘Love Revolution’ story, “01:00AM PINK MAMBA”
Amsterdam based, Parisian electro duo SACRE invite you into their epic sci-fi meets Kill Bill fantasy world as told through their debut album, Love Revolution.
Comprised of Hawaii and Sukil, SACRE are meticulous full circle creators; writing, singing, producing, and designing everything for the project. The album is a narrative concept – 12 characters, 12 scenes, and 12 songs over 12 months – revealing a new piece of the puzzle the first Friday of every month since January.
SACRE’s involvement in every aspect of the project help heighten the phantasmagoric scenes of the Love Revolution story as listeners are taken on a journey that begins at 7PM in “07:00PM VAHINE,” which sees Sukil bored at work, hypnotized by a vahine figurine on her desk, daydreaming of sea, sand, and sun, and ready to start the night’s adventure.
On the other side of the of the city, “08:00PM JUNGLIZATION,” finds Hawaii at a bar, passionately discussing love with the Radio 64 journalist who is interviewing him. Sukil hears him on the radio. The story continues with “09:00PM THE COCONUT BAR,” when Sukil spontaneously jumps in a cab to meet Hawaii at the coconut bar across town. She arrives and the vibe is electric. In “10:00PM FIRE IRAE,” (translation: fire wrath) Bebe, the star of the evening, appears onstage at the coconut bar. The crowd cheers for a moment, then hushes, hypnotized by her dance of fire before she triumphantly sets the whole bar on fire. End of the show. The easy-paced pop-inflected house track has an aura of sensual mystique represented by Bebe.
“11:00PM BECOME HUMAN” finds Bebe, Hawaii, and Sukil on the road headed south, having just fled the scene of the coconut bar. They stop to let Bebe declare her love for an android gas attendant. The love he feels in return provokes a bug in his system and, after a long reboot, he wakes up as a sentient man. The minimal but rapacious electro track with a throbbing drop and singable vocoder top line subtly recalls Daft Punk’s discography.
In “00:00AM HADES’S BLESSING,” it’s now the witching hour and Bebe and Android 6419 want to cement their relationship before leaving town. Sukil knows just the man for the job; Hades, an underground priest who lives with a pig.
A sweet-n-simple track, “00:00AM HADES’S BLESSING” swings through dense, dulcet vocal harmonies and bubbling percussion, representing the celebration of a union.
The Love Revolution story enters the early hours of the morning in SACRE’s new single “00:01AM PINK MAMBA.” Pink Mamba joins the story with everyone just sitting down for a late dinner. Dressed as a waitress, Pink Mamba is undercover and Hades seems to know her well.
SACRE says about the song: “’01:01AM PINK MAMBA is about women with a capital W. We consider them as the strength of humankind. In Love Revolution our Pink Mamba is a waitress but she’s also a warrior.”
SACRE burst onto the scene in 2018 with their debut EP, ‘The Call,’ quickly gaining support from Billboard, The Line of Best Fit, Clash, Impose Magazine, Earmilk, etc., along with a cosign from Pharrell Williams. Their follow up single, “Lemonade,” reached #2 on Hype Machine, then their debut EP saw remixes from the likes of Gigamesh (Rihanna, Crystal Fighters), the Victoires de la Musique-nominated Elephanz, as well as cuts from Chopstick & JohnJon, Uppermost, and NTEIBINT.
