The high-energy San Antonio pop punk/alternative band Finding Septembermight be on the brink of finding themselves a new winning formula with the release of their latest single “Hostage.” Led by frontwoman Emily Bayardo’s brawny and rebellious vocals, the track dives into a darker, more dramatic sound than their previous releases. The song and video made its official debut via Substream Magazine.

“‘Hostage’ took a completely different turn as we were not only writing it, but also recording the music video for it,” says Bayardo. “It’s a darker track about karma catching up to a person and overall paying the price for shitty actions. Lyrically, I drew a lot of inspiration from the movie Coraline and wanted to tap into that darker more “theatrical” writing style.“

The emotionally raw track comes screaming out of the gate with a razor-sharp guitar riff that is soon accompanied by thunderous drums and a chugging bass. Amidst the chaos, the song is adorned with an impressive vocal performance and operatic synth line.

Finding September began creating their pop-thrashing sound in 2018 with the release of their high-octane debut EP History. The record featured a myriad of influences and sounds ranging from pop, punk, R&B, metal and beyond, laying the groundwork for what’s to come next.
