Boundary-pushing R&B singer DAWN (aka Dawn Richard) released her critically acclaimed new album new breed earlier this year, and today shares a new double-single ahead of a longer project. The first in a series of forthcoming singles before launching a new project in Spring 2020, “Ay Papi”/”Slim Thicc” is out now.
“Ay Papi” features rapper and frequent Charli XCX collaborator Brooke Candy, while “Slim Thicc” features Trakgirl, the fast-rising producer for Jhene Aiko and more. “This series of singles marks the start of a new era,” DAWN explains. “new breed was the introduction to my roots. She released a series of acclaimed, Billboard-charting solo albums that tread a line between traditional R&B and future-facing electronic music.
